Celebration & Service...

We had two wonderful reasons to CELEBRATE and SERVE last month!
On Wednesday, March 20th the South Coast Ward sisters came together to celebrate
the 171st birthday of the Relief Society.

It was on March 17, 1842,
that our Prophet Joseph Smith organized the Relief Society.  He taught that the Relief Society was “not only to relieve the poor, but to save souls.”

Janet Finlay gave us a spiritual thought, reminding us that Relief Society is the oldest and largest women's organization in the world.  She also shared a bit of history and emphasized our PURPOSE as sisters of the Relief Society:
1. to build faith and personal righteousness
2. strengthen families and homes
3. to help those in need

Thank you Janet, for your preparation and sweet spirit!

We played an interactive "Relief Society" game, where we came up with meaningful AND fun characteristics of this wonderful organization that we have the privilege to be a part of today...and then of course, we ate some cake!  YUM!

In honor of our Relief Society's birthday, the Mesa View Ward & College Park Ward Relief Societies invited us to participate in a joint-service project.  Each of our wards collected items for different age groups and put together Easter Baskets, which were donated to children at the Orange County Rescue Mission.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED US PUT THE EASTER BASKETS TOGETHER, AND FOR YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS!

SUCCESS!

Special thanks to Goldie, Janet, Irene & Beverly for planning this special night!
